Fun Day 2005

Fun Day 2006

To Jesus through Mary

Report to Senatus on Junior Fun day Out 2007

On the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, Saturday 15th September about 50 Children and young adults gathered in Magnificat House at North Melbourne to attend the Junior's Fun Day Out.

We arrived at 8.0 am with a load of food and gifts for all the participants. We were greeted by a Legionary who had everything in order to start the day. Together with the two children from Our Lady of the Rosary Junior Presidium we unloaded the car. When this was done, the welcome smiley and silence signs were displayed around Our Lady's house. The three seminarians from Corpus Christ Seminary Carlton arrived. One Seminarian came to speak to the Vietnamese Legionaries. We were then joined by Lucy Sgro and the Western Suburbs Curia Juniors. With them were three Oblate Brothers who, with the Seminarians and all the Senior Legionaries helped with the events for the day. The two juniors who came with me greeted them at the door and attended to their name tags, smiling faced juniors were by now arriving and looking forward to spending the day in Our Ladies House. Each junior received a nametag. Juniors from Mentone arrived with their Spiritual Director Sr. Mary Joseph and their President Mary Ann. Sr. Mary gave a very good talk on her religious vocation.

The Legion Prayers began at 9.30am. After the prayers the participants were divided into three groups. The 15 and over group, 16 in number, went upstairs. The other two groups were located on either side of the main hall.

There was a break at 10.30 for morning tea for 10.30am. Home-made cakes sent by dedicated parents from East Bentleigh were devoured in no time.  The delicious savouries; apples and mandarins were popular as well. Every body was smiling and talking with each other. There were three parent visitors who stayed and enjoyed the day. One parent and the grandmother spent a great deal of time in the kitchen with the preparations. The pizzas needed cooking, pies pasties warmed and sand-witches made. With this extra help some of us had the chance to spend some time listening to the talks.

The day continued without a hitch, and soon it was almost 12.30pm. when all gathered to say the Catena, next on the program was lunch consisting of pizzas, pies, sandwiches, fruit and to finish with our Legionaries special home made trifle. Everybody seemed to have enjoyed the lunch. I noticed the seminarians and the three oblate brothers eating with delight. Soon we welcomed two more visitors, the Senatus President and Vice President. They were impressed to see such a good number participating. Br. Kevin soon made himself available to help the dedicated Seminarians to set up the equipment to show a video about Jesus to the children. Much to the surprise of our two special visitors the kitchen staff kindly served them lunch.

Soon it was almost 3.00pm and everyone gathered for the Legion final prayer after which we thanked the three dedicated Seminarians and then the three Oblate Brothers.

There was more dancing and singing. Then it was time to hand out the special surprises for the children in the way of religious items and bags of lollies. These were received with great joy.

Thanks to everyone involved who made this day so special for the juniors. Your prayerful support for this day was also greatly appreciated.

Can my ‘Yes’ Make a Difference

To Jesus Through Mary

Mary’s ‘Yes’ at the young age of about 14 changed the world. Consider the changes in your life if you say ‘yes’ to her by working for her. She would not be asking you to take on any thing that would be too difficult for you, only something that is good for you and someone else.

How the Legion can help you.

The Apostles prayed together and went out in pairs to bring the ‘Good News’ to people. In the Legion this is also our way. Each week we reserve a time to pray, go out and do some active work.

This work is a great stepping stone for adult responsibilities by giving you the necessary experience within a caring system in helping others

What Work can be Done.

  • Give out miraculous medals.
  • Encourage a friend to come to Mass.
  • Serving at weekday Mass.
  • Visiting children in hospitals.
  • Organise a Rosary Statue for families to pray together.
  • Make and send Get Well cards for sick children.
  • Read the Lives of Saints.
  • Help with the housework.
  • Make birthday cards for children.
  • Sewing for the missions.
  • Helping with Sacristy work.
  • Plus many more activities as requested by the Parish Priest.

How We Are

Called

This is an invitation for you to inquire about forming a group in your area. An adult from the Legion will guide you. You will meet each week to pray and organise your work.
