PPC to Chelsea 22nd Aug -1st Sept

ST. JOSEPH'S P.P.C. CHELSEA, VICTORIA   22nd AUGUST - 1st SEPTEMBER 2008

The P.P.C. began with the arrival of 7 core members on Thursday 21st August, at 2pm in readiness for Friday 22nd.  We were welcomed by the President of Our Lady of Fatima Praesidium - Chelsea Sr. Arlete Waite and other members, who assisted us in getting things organised. At around 5pm a meeting was held to discuss pointers from the PP.C. booklet, and to share a little of ourselves. We were treated to a pizza dinner and a delicious desert at which time it gave us the opportunity to get to know each other and to meet with Fr. Pritchard.

The name chosen for the Praesidium was St Joseph's - Chelsea.

Home visiting times were between 10 -10.30am to 1pm.  2- 2.30pm to 5pm. It was one of the best P.P.C.’s conducted. Everybody co-operated.

There were lots of sharing of the days work. Lots of laughter and togetherness. Eighteen Praesidia were represented - Dromana, Rochester, Albury, Lavington, Hastings, both praesidia form Noble Park, Keysborough, Doveton, Mentone, Dandenong North, East Oakleigh, Hampton Park, Ascot Vale, Oakleigh, Bentleigh, East Hawthorn, Chelsea, East Hampton

There were about 42 members altogether. Seven were core members, the others, coming in on various days for a period of between 1 to 8 days. Our best day was on Monday 25th when we had 20 members, that is 12 daily visiting members and on the lowest day we had 6.

The Chelsea Praesidium did a wonderful job in providing us with enough to eat and drink, for our lunches and dinners, and of course our cups of tea and coffee. For those who were billeted - no complaints from them. They were well looked after. Chelsea praesidium must be congratulated for a job well done, and must be thankful for the tremendous backing of their Parish Priest Fr. Pritchard. It was a pleasure working for the parish of St. Joseph’s - Chelsea.

The parish is a very large one, of over 18,000 homes. On Fr's advice we concentrated on Chelsea, Carrum, Edithvale, Bonbeach. Of those area we completed 7,203 visits; 4548 not home; 1, 904 not Catholics and 751 Catholics. A great team effort. Well done good and faithful friends. The other two areas Patterson Lakes and Aspendale were not touched, we suggested another P.P.C. for those two areas. Fr's reply was possibly in 3, years time. As the figures show, a large number were not at home, and of the 751 Catholics many not practising their faith. But on a brighter side, they were those who were touched by our visit and hopefully by the grace of God will reconcile their relationship with God.

We were blessed with good weather, with rain only on Sunday 31st after lunch. The Lord was reminding us that it was a day of rest.

On behalf of all the Peregrini, I would like to thank Our Blessed Mother Mary for her constant love and protection over us as we went about our home visitation. And to all of you for your prayerful support.
