Lavington PPC We began work for the PPC at Lavington on Saturday afternoon after a Holy Hour at 8.15am followed by our meeting. In all there were ten legionaries; seven from Adelaide, three from Victoria and a local member. We were commissioned by Fr Grace at the 6pm evening Mass. Because it was Divine Mercy Sunday, we divided our work for that day so we could attend the devotions. We were once again assisted by a local legionary and on Monday another legionary arrived to even up our numbers. On Tuesday we only worked in the afternoon because it was Anzac day. On Thursday, April 27th, Fr Grace asked us to spend the day in Jindera, a small town about 20 kilometres from Lavington but still in the parish. We door knocked the town and some of the outlying farms and spent a lovely evening meal together. On Friday the 28th, we welcomed six new members from Melbourne and said goodbye to three from Adelaide who were replaced the next day by two others. These new arrivals were commissioned at the Saturday evening Mass. Some who had been working for the whole week had a day off on the Monday when we once again said our goodbyes, this time to the two ladies from Gippsland. During the two weeks we had nineteen visiting legionaries working with fourteen local legionaries. In total we visited 6,608 homes. We found that 3,494 were not at home, 2,251 were non-catholic and 863 were catholic families. Mention must be made of the marvellous assistance given to us by the parish priests and we were very grateful to those who offered a special Mass each day to suit our schedule. And too, we remember with gratitude the people who took us into their homes and treated us like family and to all those who contributed to the meals which we devoured with gusto after a days walking and to everyone who assisted in making our stay a memorable one. To the members of the team who worked tirelessly and with the usual legionary discipline, determination and devotion, I would like to say a big personal Thank You, for a job well done and even though we failed by about a 100 homes to finish the job, we know the local legionaries are capable of finishing the task. I must also mention the work done by Alice Springs Legionary. Although she was not able to come walking with us she undertook one of the most important tasks of any PPC that of tallying and preparing the section maps. This invaluable work was done with true Legion spiri
